Author Guidelines
1. About the Journal
Journal of Open Technologies in Geophysics (JOTG) is a peer-reviewed open-access journal that publishes original research articles and short communications in the field of Earth sciences, with a particular focus on openness in data, methods, tools, and technology. Articles must be written in English and submitted through our online submission system.
2. Scope and Focus
JOTG welcomes submissions related to, but not limited to:

Priority is given to works that demonstrate transparency, reproducibility, and the use or development of open-source software, open hardware, open datasets, or openly shared methodologies.
3. Types of Manuscripts
JOTG accepts the following types of submissions:

Original Research Articles
Full-length reports of original scientific investigations, typically between 4,000–7,000 words excluding references. -
Short Communications
Concise articles (1,500–3,000 words) presenting brief research findings, methods, software tools, or datasets.
4. Manuscript Preparation
Authors must prepare manuscripts using clear, concise, and academic English. Please follow these formatting guidelines:

File Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in editable format (Microsoft Word
.docx
or.doc
). -
Structure: Suggested sections include: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments, References.

Abstract: Maximum 250 words; structured if applicable.

Keywords: Provide 4–6 keywords below the abstract.

Figures and Tables: Numbered sequentially, with descriptive captions. Figures must be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).

References: Use APA style (7th edition). Ensure all references are cited and listed correctly.

5. Submission Process
All submissions must be made through the online submission system. Authors are required to:

Register or log in to the system

Follow the step-by-step submission process

Ensure the manuscript is anonymized for peer review (no author names or affiliations in the main file)

Include a cover letter briefly describing the submission and its relevance to the journal
6. Peer Review and Editorial Process
All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers. The editorial team aims to provide a fast and fair review process, with initial decisions typically communicated within 3–4 weeks of submission.
Accepted manuscripts are copyedited and typeset before publication.
7. Publication Ethics
JOTG adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors must ensure:

Proper citation of sources and datasets

Disclosure of any potential conflicts of interest

Ethical handling of data and research methods
Plagiarism detection software is used for all submitted manuscripts.
8. Open Access and Licensing
All articles in JOTG are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright of their work and allow others to share, use, and build upon the publication, provided proper attribution is given.
9. Article Processing Charges (APC)
There are currently no article processing charges (APC) for submission or publication in JOTG. All publication costs are covered by the journal’s host institution.
