Exploring the Geosites of Ngalau Basurek, Ngalau Talago, and Batang Taye Waterfall: A Comprehensive Assessment of Silokek's Geo-Tourism Potential in Sijunjung, West Sumatra

Abstract

The Silokek Geopark in West Sumatra, known for its geodiversity, features significant geosites like Ngalau Basurek, Ngalau Talago, and Batang Taye Waterfall. A reassessment of these geosites was conducted using the Kubalíková (2013) geosite assessment method, which evaluates educational significance, risk factors, economic potential, and cultural value. Ngalau Basurek scored 70.8%, benefiting from its easy access and good facilities. Ngalau Talago scored 68.8%, reflecting challenges in access and limited amenities. Batang Taye Waterfall, with a score of 66.3%, is appealing but only accessible by motorcycle. The recommendations from the assessment should guide the Silokek Geopark Management Authority in improving each geosite's accessibility, facilities, and visitor engagement for sustainable development.
