DAMPAK JALAN ARTERI TERHADAP PERUBAHAN PENGGUNAAN LAHAN DAN SOSIAL EKONOMI DI KAWASAN PERKOTAAN KABUPATEN MAMUJU

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of arterial road construction on land use patterns and the socio-economic conditions of the urban area in Mamuju Regency. Using a quantitative descriptive-comparative method, the study integrates spatial analysis through GIS technology and statistical social-economic evaluation with t-tests and Pearson correlation. Results reveal significant transformation in land use, including increased residential and commercial areas, alongside reduced ponds and mangroves. Socio-economic findings show a notable shift in employment from primary to tertiary sectors, improvement in children's educational attainment, and increased household income levels. These changes reflect broader processes of urbanization and modernization influenced by infrastructure development. However, the study stresses the importance of inclusive and environmentally conscious spatial planning to ensure that the benefits of arterial road development are equitably distributed and sustainable for local communities. The findings contribute valuable empirical evidence to inform policy-making and urban development strategies.
