Aims and Scopes
JOTG promotes the principles of transparency, reproducibility, and collaboration in Earth sciences by encouraging authors to share their tools, workflows, and datasets openly. The journal's scope covers a broad range of Earth science disciplines, including but not limited to:
-
Geophysics
-
Geology
-
Geochemistry
-
Geodesy
-
Geomorphology
-
Seismology
-
Volcanology
-
Hydrology
-
Geodynamics

Environmental geoscience
-
Remote sensing and Earth observation
With a specific focus on open technologies, JOTG serves as a platform for advancing accessible and replicable geoscientific research. We encourage contributions that not only present scientific results but also provide practical tools, methodologies, and data that can be reused by others in the community.
The journal accepts submissions from researchers worldwide and publishes articles exclusively in English. JOTG is published biannually (two issues per year) and welcomes two types of submissions:
-
Full-length research articles
-
Short communications (brief reports, technical notes, or case studies)
